Mr. Gregory acquired his injuries more than two weeks ago, Olympic athlete Kelly Sotherton stated.

Ben Gregory, who was left struggling for his life following a tragic accident, has taken his first breaths on his own.

After colliding with a vehicle two weeks ago, the 31-year-old decathlete, who has represented both Great Britain and Wales in three Commonwealth Games, had several brain hemorrhages and a shattered skull and neck.

Naomi Heffernan, the fiancee of Mr. Gregory, said on Instagram that he had taken “his first breaths on his own without the help of a machine” and that “slowly Ben will begin to emerge from his coma.”

She also said that he would have no recollection of his family when he first awakens and that he will need to relearn how to move, accept directions, think, speak, and walk.

Ms. Heffernan said, ‘The physicians indicated we are finally out of the storm, but the last two weeks have been the most difficult of our lives.’

However, I am positive that Ben would never want us to distrust him. This will be the most difficult thing he has ever had to endure. Me too.

The 31-year-old decathlete Ben Gregory is battling for his life following a catastrophic bike accident. Early in January 2022, he and his fiancee Naomi Heffernan are spotted at the Koh Nang Yuan Viewpoint in Thailand.

But with his tremendous army behind him and Ben’s enthusiasm for life and determination, I am certain that he will defy all chances, surprise every doctor and nurse, and overcome this in a manner they have never seen before.

“Ben will never be the Ben you once knew, but he will be an even greater version, Ben 2.0, with more power and light than any of us could ever conceive.”

19-year-old British Olympian Kelly Sotherton acknowledged that his injuries were caused when a vehicle hit him on August 19.

In a previous Instagram post, she said, “This is going to be a long road to recovery,” but added that she is certain he will “get through.”

Two days before to the tragedy, Gregory had posted a video of himself running on a treadmill along with an Instagram post in which he hinted at “interesting news” that he intended to reveal shortly.

Today, British athletes are praying for Mr. Gregory’s (left) recovery, and his fiancee, Naomi Heffernan, said she has “never been more terrified.”

Gregory participated for the United Kingdom and Wales in three Commonwealth Games and holds the national record.

Mr Gregory’s injuries occurred only two days after he posted a video of himself jogging on a treadmill while promising ‘great news’ that he intended to disclose shortly.

Gregory, representing Wales, celebrates his victory in the Men’s 1500-Meter Decathlon on day six of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

Gregory is depicted participating in the discus on day six of the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland.

Gregory had a shattered skull, neck, and severe brain hemorrhages. Currently, he is in a coma and on life support. In February 2021, he is seen taking a Sunday ride through Epping Forest.

Gregory has participated in three Commonwealth Games, but is now in a coma due to a cracked skull, a broken neck, and brain hemorrhages. Heffernan requested ‘good thoughts and prayers’ in a Sunday social media post.

Kelly Sotherton, a British Olympian, stated that his injuries were received after being hit by a vehicle on Friday.

Ben Gregory: “Wales’ finest decathlete of all time”

Despite injuries, Mr. Gregory has participated in track and field for over a decade and achieved success in several competitive events.

In 2010 in Delhi, he participated in his first Major Championship, the Commonwealth Games. At the competition, he finished sixth and established a new Commonwealth record in pole vault.

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, he placed sixth again and sets a new personal best. GetBuzzing stated that he fell two points short of breaking the Welsh National Record.

Gregory is also a part-time model and has been in advertisements for a variety of sports companies.

He was under contract with the London-based modeling firm W Model Management.

The athlete’s article described his warm-up and running drills, as well as his upper body and hamstring exercises. Mr. Gregory characterized his cool down practice as a four-minute run followed by a one-minute stroll at a “cruisy seductive pace.”

In his tweet, he also used the hashtag #train, indicating that he may have been prepping for an impending event.

Ms. Heffernan said on social media the day after the accident that she had “never felt so terrified, powerless, and queasy.”

“Right now, Ben needs your good thoughts and prayers. Those who know Ben are aware of his mental and physical strength; he is a warrior and will overcome this challenge.

Please give him all the good energy and pleasant thoughts you can muster.

In another post, Ms. Heffernan acknowledged, “This is going to be a hard road to recovery,” but expressed confidence that he would “get through.”

She continued, “I’ll hopefully know more on Monday when they put him under anesthesia.” His response to it will determine the course of action.

Ms. Heffernan promised to continue updating her social media accounts and thanked everyone for their “beautiful comments and warm sentiments.”

“You can do this, buddy.” Jamie Wilson, a physical therapist and crossfit trainer, said, “You are Ben Gregz” before offering his love to Ms. Heffernan and her family.

In the aftermath of his accident, Gregory has gotten a flood of support.

Welsh Athletics said, “At this time, our thoughts and prayers are with Ben’s friends and family.

Ben is the best decathlete in the history of Wales, having competed in three Commonwealth Games, holding the Welsh record, and represented Wales and Great Britain on many occasions.

The social media outpouring of love is evidence of his appeal as a person and an athlete. Everyone who has had the opportunity of training or competing with Ben will talk of his extraordinary passion for life, generosity, and devotion.

We will all continue to pray for Ben’s complete recovery.

The athlete used the accident to emphasize the need of wearing a helmet when riding.

In a post dated October 2, 2020, he said, ‘They do a good job and are reasonably priced in comparison to the alternative.’

“When riding a bicycle, put on a helmet just as you would a seatbelt in a vehicle. Be safe. After Monday’s incident, we are grateful to be unharmed. Thank you very much for your support and kind wishes. It has been a difficult week, but recovery is imminent.’
