Barefoot Man Kicked Out

James Graham, a 55-year-old man who follows a barefoot lifestyle, was asked to leave a McDonald’s branch after ordering his food.

According to James, he was told to leave the premises shortly after sitting down once he had ordered. He said that he had gone to McDonald’s, ordered his food, and was waiting for the table service when one of the service people approached him and said that he could not be in there without shoes on.

James questioned the employee about the policy, and she replied, “No shoes, no shirt, no service.” James argued that this was an old saying from hippie times in the USA, which was used to restrict people from entering certain places. However, the employee did not listen to his argument and went to get the manager, who said that James might cut himself.

James found the incident a bit silly, as he was sitting right next to a play area, where children often played barefoot. He spoke to head office and emailed them about the incident, and they informed him that it was down to the franchise manager of that site. James thinks that it’s strange to make such decisions in a split second when he’s doing no harm to anyone.

In 2013, James had a life-changing experience when his wife passed away, and since then, he has been living his life to the fullest.

He said that life is too short to not do things you think you might want to do. James has run 20 marathons in his bare feet and recently ran the Eastbourne Half Marathon. He is planning to run the London Marathon this year barefoot as well.

James added that his barefoot lifestyle has had mixed reactions from the public. Some people are completely horrified and don’t understand it, while others fully support it and wish they had the courage and freedom to do it.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s stated that they want to create a welcoming environment for all their customers to enjoy their experience.

The Bexhill team informed James that, for his safety and the comfort of other diners, all customers are required to wear footwear in the restaurant. The spokesperson added that James was allowed to remain on this occasion and finish his food before leaving.
