Australians have been warned about a new scam email from myGov

Australians have been alerted to a new scam email providing false reimbursements that seems to be received by myGov.

A bogus mail saying users were entitled to a $736.98 return from the government was previously sent to thousands of accounts by scammers.

To access the cash, recipients are told to click on a shady link that was provided in the letter.

Because of the email’s meticulous attention to detail and use of the myGov logo, there are concerns that uninformed receivers may be misled by it.

The email does include a few obvious red flags that indicate it is a fraud.

The first red flag is in the subject line, where fraudsters often make the error of writing all words in lowercase.

Your overdue reimbursement from mygov is shown in the subject line.

The second point is that no new information will be requested from recipients in emails from myGov.

Usually, MyGov emails let recipients know when a new message has arrived.

Additionally, the bogus email includes a number of testimonials that are not generally included in a communication from myGov.

“My account serves me very well,” Reads one fictitious testimonial. “I can easily complete my procedures online.”

The warning follows the loss of a Gold Coast couple’s dream house and assets to a sophisticated email scam.

Prior to the arrival of their second child, Mitch Wilson and Penny Davies were planning to move into their new family home.

Their estate agent sent them an email asking for the $39,000 final payment and providing bank account information so they could transfer the money.

However, the email was a forgery, and thieves opened up the bank account and instantly stole the money into untraceable cryptocurrency.

Now that the distraught couple has nothing left and is broken, Mr. Wilson cautions others: “It can happen to anybody.”
