Bill Taylor, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told CNN that a ‘once-every-five-years’ storm moved across Nebraska on Tuesday and is anticipated to remain through the end of the week.

The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings for the whole state, and the state’s Department of Transportation has closed many roads, including the entire route from Nebraska to Colorado.

On Tuesday, they spread from portions of Montana and Wyoming into northeast Colorado, western Nebraska, and South Dakota.

Wyoming has also reported snow accumulations between one and two feet, and the state’s Department of Transportation reports that the snow is slowing travel on the roads.

“There is not a single green length of road in the state,” the department wrote Tuesday on Facebook.

Strong gusts, blowing snow, whiteout conditions, and hazardous patches are damaging roadways throughout the state (and in several adjacent states as well!).
