Asian family found in bags in Manurewa, New Zealand

The family of two children in elementary school whose bodies were discovered in bags purchased at an online auction supposedly resides in Asia.

The occupants of a home in the New Zealand district of Manurewa, south of Auckland, discovered the remains in bags they purchased online.

As the homicide investigation proceeds, New Zealand police are collaborating with Interpol after learning of the family’s existence.
During a Thursday afternoon press conference, Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua stated that the children were between the ages of five and ten.Detectives and forensic teams swarmed the house of the family who unwittingly purchased the contents at an auction (pictured)A family from Manurewa, in south Auckland bid in an auction on August 11 and won the unit's contents before making the shocking discovery human remains were insideThe suitcases were among the items purchased by a NZ family during an online auction of a storage unit at Safe Store Papatoetoe

We have initiated inquiries with international agencies. As reported by the New Zealand Herald, Detective Vaaelua added, “I cannot comment further.” How the corpses were discovered
The family who discovered the bodies purchased the contents of a storage locker at Safe Store Papatoetoe via online auction on August 11.

They placed the products onto a trailer and transported them to their residence, where they were sorted in the front yard.

A neighbor stated that the trailer included, among other home items, strollers, toys, and a walker. The family subsequently opened the suitcases, found the bodies, and contacted the authorities.

Unidentified director of the storage company Safe Store Ltd stated that the company was assisting the authorities with their investigation.

The director stated, “We will not comment because it is under police investigation and we are cooperating with them.”

Confusion and horror upon arrival at the scene.
Chernear Kinnear, host of the In the Loop podcast, detailed the moment when journalists arrived at the site expecting it to be a domestic violence incident.

She stated that at least two hearses had arrived as well. We were still unsure of what had transpired. We believed it had something to do with the residents of the home. According to the prevalent rumor, there may have been a marital dispute. We knew there was a body, so perhaps it was a murder.” The rumor was, of course, false.

Kineear recalls speaking with a neighbor who reported smelling a foul odor emanating from next door when the remains were initially discovered.

Another neighbor reported that her son witnessed the family removing the bag from the trailer before recoiling in horror at the finding.

What the police are aware of the youngsters
New Zealand Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua stated that authorities were still attempting to identify the identity of the children, who may have been put inside the luggage for up to four years.

However, he did imply that investigators have some information about their identities by stating that they have family in the country.

Inspector Vaaelua stated, “The nature of this discovery complicates the inquiry, especially given the time that has passed since the time of death and the time of discovery.”

We are doing our best to identify the victims, despite the fact that many of us (in the police) are also parents.

“I can state that we are making excellent progress with DNA investigations.”

The investigation team is exerting every effort to identify and punish those responsible for the death of these children.

The frightened relatives who discovered the body flee the city.
Detective Inspector Vaaelua stated that the family that discovered the children’s bodies in the luggage had no involvement in their deaths.

It is believed that they have fled Auckland in order to dodge the media maelstrom.

Inspector Vaaelua stated on Thursday, “We’re still on a fact-finding trip, and we still have a lot of unresolved questions.”

There are relatives out there who are unaware that their loved ones are died, including two young children, and my heart goes out to them.

Given the young age of the victims, the investigation was difficult, according to Insp. Vaaelua.

Mr. Burdett, a retired officer, expressed his condolences to the family following the horrible finding.

He was cited as saying, “When presented with conditions such as this, you can never forget it; you can never unsee it.”

The manager of Titan Containers, Hannah Grant, stated that storage businesses may auction off units if the original owners fell behind on payments.

She stated that some auctions are conducted in person, but prospective bidders are unable to examine the unit prior to placing a bid.

She stated, “We are not aiming to profit off people’s belongings.” We want the goods gone so we can rent out additional space.
