Ashlyn Nassif, the daughter of property developer Jean Nassif, has had her bail conditions eased following a court appearance in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court.
Ms Nassif is alleged to have been involved in a $150 million property fraud and was granted strict conditional bail on March 1, with a $2.6 million property put up as surety.
As part of her bail conditions, Ms Nassif was required to reside with her mother in Concord, report to Burwood Police Station daily, and abide by a curfew, with a time limit of 9 pm.
However, her lawyer applied to extend her night-time curfew, and the request was granted by the magistrate.
Ms Nassif was arrested on February 28 and charged with giving banks fake pre-sale contracts to obtain a $150 million loan to fund one of her father’s developments in Castle Hill.
Police allege that she submitted more than $10 million in fake pre-sale contracts to Westpac Bank for more than a dozen apartments located in the $900 million Skyview Castle Hill apartment tower complex.
The investigation into the development began after “serious defects” were found in one of the development’s towers, resulting in police raiding four properties, including the offices of Ashlyn Nassif’s firm, EA Legal.
However, police have made no suggestion that anyone else at the firm was involved in any wrongdoing.
Ms Nassif’s father, Jean Nassif, is currently part of an upper house inquiry probing decisions made by Hills Shire Council concerning the Toplace developments.
He has denied any wrongdoing and disputed Castle Hill MP Ray Williams’s claims that he paid large sums of money to elect new councillors to The Hills Shire to support his future development applications.
It was these comments that led to the upper house inquiry.
