Artwork depicting Russian President Vladimir Putin is vandalised

An artwork depicting Russian President Vladimir Putin wearing a bear mask and bondage harness has been vandalised with white and black paint.

The mural, which was designed to promote local shops during World Pride, had initially been intended to show Putin drinking a white Russian.

However, the building owner rejected the original design.

The mural was located near a busy train and bus station and provoked complaints that it was inappropriate and sexualised, with children likely to be attracted to the teddy bear head.

However, some defended the artwork, calling for those who did not like it to avoid looking at it.
