A new arrest warrant has been issued for Ilunga Kalasa, a 38-year-old Congolese national. In 2022, when Kalasa was initially apprehended, it was discovered that he was not an actual medical doctor.

Kalasa is not registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and has never been registered (HPCSA).

He had been operating a sham medical practice in Kimberley. He gave medication to indigent patients and operated on victims of traumatic injuries, including stab wounds and gunshot wounds.

As previously reported, the HPCSA disclosed that 55 individuals were detained between 2021 and 2022 for fraud or for posing as doctors.

Due to outstanding DNA results, the case against him was withdrawn.

Since 2018, when his guest visa expired, it is believed that he has been staying unlawfully in the nation. At this time, Kalasa’s location are unknown.

As previously reported by The South African, the adolescent girl was allegedly raped by the doctor on Monday, August 15, while her father waited outside in the lobby.

As she walked away from her father, she remained silent. The following day, she told her aunt about the experience. The situation was reported immediately to the authorities, and the doctor was arrested shortly thereafter.

However, the state opposes bail.

Monday will bring him news of his fate. On the bail application, the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court is anticipated to provide a decision.
