Yaqub Salik Talib, 39, is wanted for allegedly murdering Michael Hickmon, 43, during a game in Lancaster, Texas, on Saturday.

Lancaster Police verified to The Dallas Morning News on Monday that he turned himself into the Dallas County Jail.

Talib was sought by authorities for murder after he reportedly shot and killed the young coach during the under-9 football game.

It is believed that Hickmon, the coach of the Dragon Elite Academy squad, was shot three times in front of his nine-year-old son, who was a member of one of the teams.

Clark Birdsall, Talib’s attorney, did not immediately reply to DailyMail.com’s request for comment. Talib, according to the Lancaster Police Department, engaged in a physical dispute with the referees before opening fire at Lancaster Community Park in southeast Dallas County.

They claimed that the man produced a firearm and fired “several times” before escaping in a vehicle.

A video of the incident shows a guy wearing a black sweatshirt and cap drawing and discharging a pistol.

In the chaotic clip captured from the sidelines of the field, parents can be seen cursing and fighting with one another before a fight breaks out on the field.

In a matter of seconds, the brawl expanded in size as additional individuals raced to either join or disperse the gathering.

After hearing five gunshots, the coach was seen laying motionless on the field.

As youngsters who had seen the murder were swiftly escorted away, distraught parents could be seen dialing 911 on their smartphones.

Fellow coach Heith Mayes said, ‘They were disappointed with the loss. The official stopped the game after a man on the sidelines said he was going to hit him.

Kerry Lewis, a second coach, remarked, “It’s simply not that essential.” It isn’t. It is not that severe.

No one should be afraid to attend a football game for nine-year-olds, or my kid may be shot while playing football. This must cease. On the field, his kid observed him being shot and killed. These children are not guilty. They should not have to experience what they experienced.

“He was a real guy, a kind person, and a parent first and foremost.”

Yaqub’s brother, the footballer Aqib, was also at the game when the murder happened, but police have verified they are not searching for him.

A lawyer for the ex-Tampa Bay Buccaneers athlete told TMZ: ‘Aqib was there when this horrible tragedy happened, and he is very distressed and heartbroken over this tragic loss of life.

He would want to extend his sympathies to the victim’s family and everyone who saw this tragic event.
Ciciely Hickmon, Hickmon’s sister, told CNN that her brother was coaching his son’s football team when gunshots started.

Ciciely Hickmon said that he left behind a wife, two daughters, a son, and three grandkids.

Mike was an exceptional husband, son, father, grandpa, brother, friend, and coach, she noted.

Our family is in mourning. Right now, we don’t see an end to our pain. We miss him terribly. We forever will. We shall always adore him.

As many may have already heard, Mike Hickmon, a father, former player, coach, mentor, cornerstone of our youth football community, and part of the Dragon Elite Academy coaching family, passed away yesterday during a YOUTH FOOTBALL GAME.

Even if the older DEA teams were not there at this incident, it has shaken us all and caused us to reconsider EVERYTHING.

This is something that no young sports coach, parent, or participant should ever have to prepare for.

I appreciate comments on how our 9u players and Mike’s family might rehabilitate from watching and experiencing a horrible event at such a young age.’

Lancaster police did not identify Aqib as a person of interest. After 15 years in the game and winning Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos, he will retire in 2020.

During his career, he also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New England Patriots, and the Los Angeles Rams. He is presently a Fox Sports pundit.

Talib was charged with possession of methamphetamine on Wednesday, three days before the murder of Hickmon.

In March, a grand jury indicted Talib on a charge of unauthorized possession of a firearm; both cases are now ongoing.

Talib made news once again in 2014 when he was detained during a brawl at a Dallas bar.

According to witnesses, a very inebriated Talib was hurling bottles and assaulting people before being detained for public intoxication; the outcome of this case was not immediately known.

A Dallas police officer was obliged to apologize to Aqib Talib after wrongly identifying him as a participant in the fight, and the department posted his identity on social media in relation to the event.
