Farewell, America.

A source said, “They have not been fired yet, but I do not expect T.J. to return.” “They do want Amy to stay and continue to be a part of the show, but not on ‘GMA3′.”

According to reports, the sensational news couple “hired attorneys to handle [negotiations].”

TMZ claimed early Thursday that Robach has retained the renowned civil attorney Andrew Brettler, while Holmes is represented by Eric George.

“They have not yet been canceled, but I do not expect T.J. to return,” a source told Page Six. “They want Amy to stay and continue to be a part of the show, but not on “GMA3.”

No attorney promptly responded to Page Six’s request for comment. A representative for ABC did not comment at the time of publication.

ABC President Kim Godwin determined that the co-anchors’ relationship was too much of a “distraction” for viewers and removed them from the air in early December, replacing them with a rotation of fill-in news personalities.

The couple has engaged attorneys to negotiate with ABC.

“After much consideration, I am taking Amy and T.J. off the air while we figure this out,” Godwin stated at the time, adding that while the affair was “not a violation of company policy,” it was important for the “GMA” brand as a whole to remove them from their anchor seats.

The affair appeared to be the beginning of Holmes’ demise, since it was later revealed that he was involved in more workplace affairs.

The two journalists have been active with each other despite their absence from the airwaves.

Robach and Holmes have not only been spotted several times leaving each other’s apartments, but they also spent the holidays traveling and making out like adolescents in Miami.

Since the duo was removed off the air, they have been replaced by various ABC talent.

Shortly after the story emerged, Page Six said that Holmes’ now-estranged wife, Marilee Fiebig, was “blindsided” by the affair because she and Holmes had recently repaired inside their own marriage and celebrated his birthday in the Bahamas.

Holmes, 45, filed for divorce from Fiebig, with whom he shares daughter Sabine, at the end of December, whereas Robach, 49, was near to finalizing her divorce from Andrew Shue when the affair made headlines.
