All coronavirus restrictions, including wearing protective masks in public places have been lifted in Russia starting from July 1

All restrictions imposed in Russia as a result of the coronavirus pandemic have been lifted by the Russian Federal State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights (Rospotrebnadzor). Starting on July 1, all coronavirus restrictions in Russia have been lifted, including the requirement to wear protective masks in public.

According to a message on the agency’s official website, the restrictions were lifted because the epidemic’s intensity in Russia and around the world is continuing to decline. As a result, the weekly incidence rate has dropped by over 64 times.

“Almost all confirmed cases of the disease (93 percent) are mild (in the form of an acute respiratory illness) or asymptomatic,” Rospotrebnadzor said.

Nevertheless, the organisation will keep an eye on COVID-19 activity after that in Russia. If the epidemic situation worsens, the restrictions may be reinstituted, the agency said.

As many as 3,155 cases of coronavirus infection have been found in Russia over the past 24 hours, according to information released on Friday, July 1 by the operational headquarters for the fight against the infection. 3,388 patients have recovered and been released from hospitals, while as many as 1,148 patients have been hospitalised. In one day, 53 people passed away from the coronavirus.

During the entire pandemic, 381,165 people died in the country.
