After straying onto a major road and staring at bewildered vehicles as they passed, a curious emu has caused traffic to come to a complete stop.
The animal could be seen peacefully meandering down the road in the Macedon Ranges, an hour north of Melbourne, in the footage that a driver named Bianca took and posted to Twitter.
The emu was walking past and peered into the car windows, looking extremely curious about its new-found popularity.
As the emu approached their car, the startled mother can be heard warning her children, “It’s going to poke my eyeballs out.”
She then said hello to the bird as a tiny child screamed in fear, “Close the window!”
The enormous, immobile beast briefly stopped to peer into the vehicle before continuing on its journey.
Although the emu appeared to be completely unaffected by the traffic around it, it is unclear how it got to be in the middle of the busy road.
In other videos shared on social media, the cat is shown quietly navigating between the cars as the drivers all come to a complete stop.
Bianca once asked, “Why would there be an emu f***ing the road?” Why am I always the victim?
The video made people giggle online.
One man made a joke, “Is that the new toll collector, he looks mean as f**k.”
