After 4 days of not seeing her babies, woman’s family declared the medical system “broken.”

After a new mother was had to wait four days to finally see her newborn infants, her family expressed their frustration by labelling the medical system as “broken.”

Grandmother Anne said that her daughter, Sally, had an emergency caesarean delivery at Melbourne’s Sunshine Hospital for her twins who were born six weeks early.

However, because to a lack of available hospital beds, her newborn children were immediately taken to Sandringham Hospital, 40 kilometres away.

Sally, a distraught first-time mother, had to wait four days following her caesarean section at Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne before she could see or cuddle her preterm kids for the first time.

Due to problems with her operation, first-time mother Sally was unable to meet or embrace her infants before they were removed and was had to remain in the hospital for four days.

Anne told Melbourne radio station 3AW that “they didn’t give her a reason why, they just said perhaps the kids can come back.”

Sally was put on various medicines and told to rest after being discharged from the hospital, but she received no patient transportation to see the twins.

On Thursday, I picked her up and drove her right over to meet the newborns, Anne recalled.

Since then, the mother has driven the four hours each way to the hospital for the twins.

In order to make the most of his time off, Sally’s husband has made the decision to continue working till the infants are back at their house.

Sally must, however, either drive herself or seek Anne’s assistance.

I’m very disappointed for them, Anne cried. You’re supposed to be together as first-time parents, but they’re split up.

Mum’s mental health is suffering as a result of being apart from her children. The healthcare system is flawed.

Anne then disclosed that Sunshine Hospital had discussed moving the twins out the state before their father stepped in.

The infants are now being cared for at Sandringham Hospital, but a move to Werribee Hospital, which is closer to the parents’ home, is being discussed.

Even still, Anne observed, “they always repeat tomorrow, tomorrow.”

She said, “Their duty is to look after newborns,” therefore it’s not their fault the twins are so far away from their parents. The care provided at Sandringham Hospital has been excellent, she said.
