Advanced weather modelling maps reveals two mega blizzards

Advanced weather modelling maps have identified the exact time, location and expected amount of snowfall for two mega blizzards that are set to hit the UK in the coming days.

The plummeting temperatures will be caused by a sudden stratospheric warming (SSW), the same weather phenomenon that preceded the arrival of 2018’s Beast from the East, which resulted in strong winds and heavy snowfall.

The first blizzard is expected to hit the south of the country in the early hours of March 9, impacting most of the nation south of Birmingham overnight, while the second is expected to come in the early hours of March 11, sweeping in from the south-west and stretching from Northern Ireland across the UK and into mainland Europe.

The weather front will cause significant snowfall in Cardiff and Yorkshire at a rate of around 10cm per hour.

The most snow is expected to settle in rural and hilly areas.
