UNILORIN entrance form for remedial (Pre-degree) study – The administration of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has begun selling admission forms for its remedial program for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The School of Preliminary Studies (SPS) Programme invites adequately prepared applicants to submit applications for admission to the 2022/23 academic year. Admitted SPS applicants who pass the school’s exams at the end of the programme and achieve the minimal UTME cut-off point established by the University SHALL be considered for admission into degree programmes depending on performance and quota for each programme.

The top ten (10) students in each of the subject areas of Sciences, Arts, and Social Sciences in the SPS final examinations who also meet the University entry requirements are now eligible for admission to all courses in the University, EXCEPT MB;BS and LAW.

Arts and arts education are under the first category.

Applicants must pass five subjects at the credit level in no more than two attempts on the SSCE/GCE administered by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, including the major subjects of study. Two of the five required subjects must be from the arts, while the remaining three may be from the social sciences. Note that credit grades in English Language and Mathematics are required for future entrance into any University of Ilorin degree.

Agriculture, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Science Education, and Technology Education constitute the second category.

English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics must be passed with credit at NOT more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE administered by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Specific requirements: The Faculty of Agriculture will accept Agricultural Science credit in lieu of Biology credit.

Category 3: Social Sciences

English Language, Mathematics, and three from Economics, Government, Geography, and Commerce must be passed with credit at NOT more than two sittings in the SSCE/GCE administered by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Specific requirements: The Department of Psychology requires a passing grade in Biology at the O’ level, and candidates must take the UTME Biology exam. The combination of UTME Subjects for other Social Sciences courses includes English, Economics, Government, and either Geography or Commerce.

Eligibility:

The preliminary studies curriculum is primarily open to applicants from the University of Ilorin’s Catchment States (i.e. Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara States). However, applicants from other Federation states are also afforded significant possibilities.

The program will be held in the School of Preliminary Studies in Fufu, Ilorin South Local Government Headquarters in Kwara State.

The duration of the curriculum is two academic semesters (one academic session).

In keeping with its policy of inclusiveness in university education, the Board of the School has approved that applicants with a credit pass in a minimum of three (3) O’ Level subjects may apply for the programme; PROVIDED THAT they MUST have registered for and obtained a credit pass in the deficient subjects prior to being considered for admission into a degree program.

Applicants who wish to study Engineering must achieve credit grades in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics at O-level and sit for the English Language, Chemistry, and Physics UTME examinations.

Candidates MUST take the 2023 UTME with a subject combination appropriate to the programme of their choice and MUST achieve the University-approved minimum UTME cut-off score.

Admission to programs shall be determined based on performance and quota for each program.

Students who pass the school’s end-of-programme examinations but did not achieve the minimum JAMB/UTME cutoff point approved by the university may BANK the Remedial result for use only the next year; PROVIDED that the minimum JAMB/UTME cutoff point approved for the following year is achieved.

How to Apply for Pre-Degree Admission at UNILORIN

Candidates must visit www.unilorin.edu.ng and follow the link for the 2022/2023 Remedial Application on the University of Ilorin website.

Online application forms must be submitted along with a nonrefundable N15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Naira) application fee paid with a Remita-enabled ATM card (Master or Visa card).

After completing the form, candidates MUST download a Local Government Confirmation Form, which MUST be signed by the Chairman/Secretary of their local government area.

Applicants who are given admission must bring the application form and their SSCE/GCE certificates/result slips to registration.

Classes commence on Monday, October 17, 2022.
