Deployment of Police Commissioners: Strengthening Policing and Security in Nigeria
The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has initiated the deployment of 35 police commissioners to various state commands and formations throughout the country.
This announcement was made through a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to the statement, the decision to deploy the commissioners aligns with the commitment of the police leadership to enhance policing, strengthen security, and maintain law and order in Nigeria.
The appointed commissioners will assume their roles in different states, taking up key responsibilities in their respective areas.
Among the newly appointed commissioners are Adelesi E. Oluwarotimi for Kwara State, Adebola Ayinde Hamzat for Oyo State, Augustina N. Ogbodo for Ebonyi State, and Samuel Titus Musa for Kebbi State.
Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye will oversee policing in Anambra State, while Auwal Musa will be responsible for Bauchi State, and Alamatu Abiodun Mustapha will head the police command in Ogun State.
Other assignments include CP Margaret Ochalla to the Police Special Fraud Unit Annex in Lagos, CP Banji Ogunrinde to the Explosive Ordnance Unit, CP Rhoda A. Olofu to Ports Authority Police Western, Lagos, and CP Kareem Musa to Interpol Annex Lagos.
Furthermore, CP Audu Dabigi will serve in the Border Patrol Force, CP Abibo D. Reuben in the Police Mobile Force, CP Adekunle Ismaila Olusokan in Welfare FHQ Abuja, CP Omolara Ibidun Oloruntola in the Special Fraud Unit FCID Abuja, and CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi as the Deputy Force Secretary, among others.
Addressing the newly appointed commissioners, Egbetokun emphasized the importance of adopting his vision and mission for the Nigerian Police Force.
He outlined their key responsibilities, which include ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens, upholding fairness and professionalism, and respecting human rights.
The Acting Inspector-General encouraged the commissioners to lead by example, foster strong relationships with other security agencies and community leaders, and employ intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention strategies.
By following these directives, they can contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Nigerian Police Force in safeguarding the nation and its people.
