Speaker of the House Announces New Principal Officers of the Green Chamber

Julius Ihonvbere, appointed as the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, is a Nigerian professor and politician representing Owan Federal Constituency of Edo State.

He completed his education at various institutions, including the University of Ife, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Combined Honors in history and political science.

Ihonvbere has held significant positions in his political career, including Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education.

He also served as the Special Adviser on Project Monitoring and Implementation to former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In addition, he has previously contested the governorship position in Edo State under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims – Deputy Majority Leader

Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been appointed as the Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

He represents Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State.

Halims was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2019 general election and serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Steel.

Bello Kumo – Chief Whip

Bello Kumo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), assumes the role of Chief Whip in the House of Representatives.

Hailing from Gombe State, he represents the Akko federal constituency.

Kumo previously served as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs and has held the position of Chairman of Akko Local Government Area twice before his election to the National Assembly.

Adewunmi Onanuga – Deputy Chief Whip

Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, known as Yomi Onanuga, is a Nigerian politician and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

As the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Onanuga represents the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State.

In the 9th National Assembly, she served as the chairperson of the House Committee on Women’s Affairs and Social Development.

Kingsley Chinda – Minority Leader

Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been appointed as the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.

Representing the Obio/Akpor Constituency in Rivers State, Chinda has a diverse educational background and legal expertise.

He graduated from the Nigerian Law School and has extensive experience in Class Action, Human Rights, and Environmental law.

Chinda is also a partner at the law firm of Onyeagucha, Chinda, and Associates.

Aliya Madaki – Deputy Minority Leader

Aliyu Sani Madaki, a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), assumes the role of Deputy Minority Leader in the House of Representatives.

He hails from Dala town in Kano State.

Madaki has a successful academic background, including a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting.

He ventured into politics in 2007, running for a seat in the Federal Parliament under the AC Party, and later winning the seat representing Dala Local Government under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011.
