Across England, secondary school pupils start violent protests

Across England, secondary school pupils have started violent protests demanding an end to new toilet rules.

Students at schools in Cornwall, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire are disputing the bans on using toilets during class times and new rules such as girls having to show a ‘red card’ while on their period.

The protests have led to reports of pupils throwing tables and breaking fences.

Parents have accused schools of introducing ‘prison rules’ and taking away their children’s human rights.

Some pupils and parents have started petitions, such as ‘Stop Rainford High controlling girls’ skirts,’ after the school in St Helens, Merseyside, introduced a uniform policy stating skirts must be knee length.
