Abdelmounaim Boutouil has joined the Mamelodi Sundowns!

The Brazilians have finally signed defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil who joins the Tshwane Giants from Moroccan professional league Botola Pro side, SCC Mohammédia, making him the first Moroccan player to join a PSL club. Masandawana have offered the 24-year-old central defender a three-year deal, with an option to extend for another two years.

Speaking for the first time since joining the team, Boutouil expressed his excitement to join the Tshwane giants: “I am feeling very happy to join one of the biggest clubs in Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns. My goal is to win all the local cups in the PSL and what’s very important for me and for the club is winning the Champions League. I am the first Moroccan player to come play in South Africa, [therefore] I am here to represent my country as a Sundowns player.”

In recent times, the Moroccan played a significant role in helping his nation win the prestigious 2020 African Nations [AFCON] Championship title in Cameroon. The young maestro also had a short loan spell at the home of three-time African champions Raja Casablanca before returning back to his mother club, Mohammédia. The talented left-center back is highly rated as one of the most technically gifted defenders in the Botola Pro league and will form part of Bafana Ba Style’s title defense campaign.

Welcome to the home of Champions Boutouil!
