BREAKING: Micheal Loftman joins Mamelodi Sundowns as set play coach

The addition of Michael Loftman as Set Play Coach has strengthened the football department and Technical Team of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Loftman previously worked for Orlando Pirates.

The appointment was made in an effort to raise the bar by adding a specialist to the Technical Team, according to a Masandawana statement on Tuesday.

Gaining little advantages is the goal of all competitive sports. The statement said, “Replays and restarts are an important component of modern football and are even more important while competing in the CAF Champions League.

Loftman, who has served in a variety of coaching capacities including head coach and development coach, is a graduate of Brunel University with a Masters in Sports Science & Coaching and a UEFA A license from the English FA.

Together with the performance data analyst, he will perform his duties on the pitch and gather analytical data to provide insight into how to enhance a crucial aspect of the game.

“We are really glad to have Michael and add his competences to the experienced and highly trained technical team,” Mamelodi Sundowns’ sporting director Flemming Berg said in welcoming Loftman.

This week, Loftman will go to Cameroon with Mamelodi Sundowns for their second CAF Champions League match against Coton Sport.

This game will be played on February 17 at 8:00. (SA time).

Last Saturday, Mamelodi Sundowns defeated Al-Hilal 1-0 in their Loftus Versfeld debut.
