ABC has announced that Ryan Seacrest’s last day hosting Live with Kelly and Ryan will be on Friday, April 14. Seacrest shares the talk show with Kelly Ripa, and his replacement, Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos, will make his debut immediately.
The next broadcast on Monday, April 17 will feature Consuelos at the helm and the show will be rebranded as Live with Kelly and Mark. Seacrest will be leaving the show to host American Idol’s live shows in California, a job he has held since the show’s debut in 2002.
Seacrest, Ripa, and Consuelos spoke about the upcoming transition on the Oscars red carpet, describing it as bittersweet. Seacrest said that he and Consuelos have a great relationship and working relationship, and that the next few weeks will be exciting.
Ripa added that nothing will really change between the three of them, except that Ryan will have his coffee later.
Seacrest announced the change in February during a live broadcast, saying that working alongside Kelly over the past six years had been a dream job and one of the highlights of his career.
Ripa, who has been with the show since 2001, said she was grateful to have co-hosted the show with Seacrest.
Live with Kelly and Ryan airs weekdays at 9/8c on ABC.
