A suspect, age 27, is scheduled to appear before the Libode Magistrate Court in the Eastern Cape for possessing allegedly stolen weapons, drugs, and ammunition

On Friday, July 15, 2022, a suspect, age 27, is scheduled to appear before the Libode Magistrate Court in the Eastern Cape for possessing allegedly stolen weapons, drugs, and ammunition.

His arrest occurred on Thursday, July 14, 2022, as part of a coordinated intelligence-driven operation in the Eastern Cape by the Mpumalanga Hawks Serious Organized Crime Investigation, Eastern Cape DPCI, Tactical Response Team, Public Order Policing, and Crime Intelligence Mthatha.

A suspect suspected of having illegal firearms in his hands was the subject of information that was investigated.

In Eastern Cape, the crew travelled to the alleged suspect’s hiding place.

Upon arriving at the location, a search and seizure operation was carried out, leading to the discovery and subsequent confiscation of two firearms: a rifle and a handgun loaded with bullets.

In order to ascertain whether the firearms have been used in other crimes, the serial numbers were removed, and ballistic testing will be performed on them.

Major General Zodwa Mokoena, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation’s provincial head, praised and commended the team’s collaboration.
