A special squad has been posted to Nakuru to pursue a gang behind a series of attacks that have been experienced in the area.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reports that 27 individuals have been detained thus far in relation to the recent wave of armed robberies that have been recorded in the city.

The DCI claimed that the thugs had “crude weapons including machetes, clubs, swords, metal rods and pieces of wood” and that they had “left Nakuru residents living in terror of being attacked.”

The organization noted that “Various SIM cards and identification documents belonging to victims of robbery occurrences were also found.”

The remaining suspects, who were detained in a separate operation, range in age from 20 to 30.

Detectives have since issued a warning to the remaining thugs to turn themselves in.

Following a string of gruesome murders, Maalim Mohamed, the regional commissioner for the Rift Valley, vowed to track down roving killers who had been killing people in the Nakuru Town East and Bahati sub-counties.

After yet another incident in which a woman was robbed and raped, Mohamed delivered the undertaking on Sunday.

A criminal gang that has been breaking into locals’ homes has been burning rape victims, according to six additional verified cases.

In the most recent incident at Nakuru’s Workers Estate, a gangster broke into a residence at 10am on Friday, murdered 25-year-old Diana Tasha Opicho, and stole household goods.

According to the locals, the body was discovered wrapped on a mattress, seemingly prepared for burning.

Brian Kimiru stated, “It appears the criminals were startled by Diana’s family before they could torch the body.

He claimed that this has become a trend in the area after four other ladies were killed there in the previous 1.5 weeks.
