A shooting at a gay nightclub in Norway leaves several people injured and two dead

Police in Norway have confirmed that a shooting at a nightclub left two people dead and several critically injured.

Social media videos from 1.15am on Saturday show emergency personnel outside Oslo’s London Pub, a homosexual nightclub.

At the scene, police have detained a suspect. He was reportedly captured close by.

As of of now, no motive has been revealed.

According to local media, the incident left two people dead, 10 people hospitalized, and 12 people treated on the scene.

The condition of three of those sent to the hospital is stated to be critical.

Later on Saturday, Oslo will host its yearly Pride parade.

Oslo Police District said: ‘Two people have been confirmed dead in the shooting episode. There are several seriously injured.

‘The police defined the mission as a PLIVO incident.’

National newspaper in Norway, VG, reported that ‘witnesses said people ran from the scene in panic’.

Oslo’s university hospital said it had gone on red alert following the shooting.

A witness told local media: ‘I saw a man come in with a bag, he took out a weapon and started shooting.’

Nightclub goers with blood on their faces were treated by emergency personnel in pictures posted online.

Unofficially authenticated video that was posted on social media is thought to show a man with a major head wound.

A ‘PLIVO’ incident stands for ‘ongoing life-threatening violence.’

According to reports, “up to 20 shots” were fired inside the nightclub.

A person was detained nearby immediately after the incident, according to Norwegian Police.

The police encourage locals to make way for ambulances, according to a tweet from Norway’s BNN Newsroom.

Many ambulances are in the vicinity treating the injured while a sizable police response is in progress.

A large group of emergency responders, including police and ambulance workers, gathered outside the London Pub, as seen in photos published by the newspaper VG, the broadcaster NRK, and others.

While police and ambulance sirens could be heard all around the city, helicopters hovered over the center of Oslo.
