A Russian mother arrested for selling her baby to pay for a nose job

A Russian woman has been detained on charges that she sold her newborn baby for £2,900 in order to pay for a nose job.

According to reports, the unidentified 33-year-old Dagestani mother informed a friend she did not want to keep the child.

Just five days after baby April 25th birth, she made arrangements for a couple to purchase the infant.

According to the police, the mother gave the couple her son in exchange for just 200,000 rubles (£2881.95), with a 10% deposit.

‘Her biological mother wanted to leave her at the hospital,’ said the woman who bought the baby, telling police in an interview she was not his biological mother.

‘She could not provide for the child, so I took the child.’

However, because the child required hospital care, medical personnel requested his birth certificate from the parents.

The mother only agreed to hand up the baby’s birth certificate in exchange for another 100,000 rubles (£1440.98) when the couple returned to beg for it.

The mother had informed the couple that she was unemployed and had no money or a place to live.

But on May 26, when she got the money, she informed them she was going to get a nose job with it.

The mother reportedly told them she needed the nose job for better breathing, according to the lady who purchased the child.

Police detained the group for human trafficking before the couple could pay the remaining balance.

In a statement obtained by Newsflash, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan said: ‘The investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Dagestan have initiated a criminal case against a 33-year-old resident of the city of Kaspiysk.’

She was charged with selling another person, according to the statement.

‘According to investigators, on 25th April, 2022, a woman gave birth to a male child in Caspian City Central Hospital,’ the authorities went on.

After learning about the mother’s condition and being persuaded by a neighbour, the husband and his wife decided to adopt the child.

‘I became friends with her and suggested she give the child to a family who couldn’t have kids anymore,’ the neighbour told police.

The mother went to a notary issued a waiver for the rights to the child on April 30, the investigators said, and exchanged the child for the cash.

‘She did not want to just leave the child, she wanted to find a family for her,’ said the woman who bought the child.

‘Currently, a series of investigative actions is being carried out, aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crime committed and consolidating evidence of the suspect’s guilt,’ the statement concluded.

‘The issue of choosing a preventive measure against her is being decided.’
