In a scenario comparable to the Gomorra TV drama, a would-be Camorra mafia hitman shot and killed an innocent man in broad sight as “a killer’s baptism.”
On July 31 in Bagnoli, Naples, Davide Fogler, 56, who sometimes worked as a valet, was shot in the head. His corpse was discovered in a room with a street view.
Local media have linked the incident to an episode of the Italian mafia drama Gomorra.
Crime drama Gomorra, or Gomorrah in English, which ran from 2014 to 2021, chronicles the tale of a Napolitan mafia family.
It was mostly shot in Scampia and centres on the lives of Ciro Di Marzio, a member of the Savastano clan of the Camorra.
In an effort to educate Gennaro Savastano how to murder in a “killer’s baptism,” Ciro Di Marzio led the young man to Gomorrah and had him shoot a drug user.
The shooting may have also been a “killer’s baptism,” similar to the event in Gomorrah, according to the newspapers Il Mattino, Il Messaggero, and La Repubblica.
According to investigators, the individual may have tested the gun’s real-world effects during this “killer’s baptism” as a way to get expertise with it.
Investigators had determined that Fogler’s death was an accident because they thought he had banged his head on a piece of furniture and called for aid before losing consciousness.
An autopsy, however, later confirmed that he had been killed. Police have received no information regarding the incident from any bystanders.
The Today Chronicle said that Mr. Fogler was struck closely.
According to V News, another idea put out by police is that the murder may have been committed in vengeance against homeless people.
Prior to his murder, Mr. Fogler had no disputes with anybody and was not a member of an organised criminal group, according to information previously obtained by police.
According to Fanpage, he had no involvement with organised crime and was a “ghost” who had an apartment but seemed to be destitute.
The matter is being looked into by the Mobile Squad of the Naples Police Headquarters, under the direction of Alfredo Fabbrocini.
