According to Olivia’s mother, Kellie Atkinson, the first sign that something was wrong was when Olivia complained of pain in her face in December 2019.
Despite being told that it was just a sinus infection, Kellie knew that something was wrong because Olivia wasn’t talking as well as she should have been and was crying in pain.
After months of not feeling well, a scan revealed that the “sinus infection” was actually a tumour that had spread around her body into her lungs and bone marrow.
Olivia started chemotherapy treatment on Easter weekend in 2020, and despite being told that it looked like she wouldn’t get better, she did.
However, doctors have warned Kellie that the cancer will come back and be terminal when it does. Kellie is now focused on making memories with her daughter, ensuring that Olivia is as happy as possible in the present.
Kellie has started a fundraiser to fulfil Olivia’s dream of going to New York to see the Statue of Liberty. Kellie has been overwhelmed by the love and support from the people of Liverpool, and she believes in the power of positivity.
Despite receiving horrible news about her daughter’s diagnosis, Kellie is proud to have been Olivia’s mum for the last six years and is committed to ensuring that Olivia has the best life possible for the years to come.
