In the Bronx, a man was shot in the face during an apparent attempted robbery while he was pumping gas at the Gulf gas station on Webster Avenue near East 175th Street in Tremont around 12:45 a.m. on Friday. The victim, a 51-year-old man, was approached by the suspect, who may have attempted to rob him.
The victim then sprayed gas at the suspect, who responded by opening fire and striking him in the face. The victim was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and was listed in stable condition hours later. The shooter fled the scene and has not been arrested. No description of the suspect was immediately available.

In Manhattan, about 20 minutes before the Bronx shooting, a 19-year-old man was shot in the left leg on Avenue D near East Fourth Street on the Lower East Side.
