85-year-old Windermere Man dies following a marine incident in Bundaberg

Tragedy struck on Tuesday, March 14, when an 85-year-old Windermere man lost his life in a marine incident in Bundaberg.

Reports suggest that around 10:40 am, two people were thrown from a boat into the Burnett River near Strathdees boat ramp in Rubyanna.

No other vessel is believed to be involved in the incident.

The 85-year-old Windermere man suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the boat, an 82-year-old Gooburrum man, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Water Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, with assistance from Maritime Safety Queensland.

In a bid to gather as much information as possible, witnesses to the incident are urged to come forward. The investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
