2ft 1in Iranian, 20, is crowned world’s shortest man

A 20-year-old Iranian measuring slightly over 1 meter in height has been awarded the world’s tiniest man.

Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh, from a rural village in Bukan County, northern Iran, has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s shortest living male (65.24cm).

Due to his physical weakness, Afshin has been unable to attend school. He has difficulty using mobile phones since they are too heavy for him to carry.

But Afshin said he hopes his newfound status as the world’s shortest man will enable him to care for his parents, who have occasionally struggled to make enough money to cover their son’s living expenses, therapy, and medication.

Afshin stated that he believes his newfound popularity as the world’s shortest man will assist him in caring for his parents (pictured), who have occasionally battled to make enough money for their son’s living expenses, therapy, and medicine.

Due to his physical weakness, Afshin has been unable to attend school. He has difficulty using mobile phones since they are too heavy for him to carry.

Afshin stated, “My dream is to be able to assist my parents.” This international recognition could assist me in achieving my goal.

Afshin’s diminutive stature prevents him from following in his father Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh’s footsteps as a construction worker. Afshin, who weighs only 6.5 kg, has been unable to find adequate employment in his small hamlet.

Afshin, who struggles with illiteracy and cannot leave his town without his parents, has been able to interact with the wider world thanks to a phone that a friend gave him, despite the fact that he finds it difficult to operate.

Afshin stated, “Phones in general are cumbersome to use for extended periods, but I still manage.”

I am aware of who the tallest man in the world is. Perhaps I might fit in the palms of his hands.

Afshin, who has only learnt how to write his name, was unable to attend school as a child due to his physical weakness.

Afshin’s father stated, “Continuing treatment and my son’s physical frailty are the primary reasons he stopped studying; he has no mental issues.”

Afshin stated that he had difficulty finding clothes that fit him. He can only wear apparel that would suit a three-year-old, but the styles are no longer appropriate for his age.

After collecting the Guinness World Record in Dubai, Afshin described the experience as a “dream.”

The mere thought of becoming a member of the Guinness World Records family is like a dream. I struggle to believe it sometimes. It is like if you awoke the next morning to discover that the entire world now knew who you are. That is magical,’ Afshin exclaimed.

“I enjoy the attention I receive from others. It helps me feel unique,’ he continued.

Afshin has now surpassed Edward Nio Hernandez to become the shortest man in the world.

Hernandez, 36, of Bogotá, Colombia, is just 2ft 4in (72.1 cm) tall, whilst Afshin is three inches shorter.

Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records, stated, ‘It was an honor to meet with Afshin and his family, and to confirm that he is the shortest adult male in the world.

This is one of those essential human-body superlatives, and for this charming young man, receiving this official confirmation might be a life-changing event.

Glenday continued, ‘Based on his enthusiasm during his vacation to Dubai, he is more than prepared to embrace his newly acquired celebrity status and become a household name.

He has already accomplished one thing on his bucket list: seeing the world’s tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa.
