2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations: Andile ‘Sticks’ Dlamini named the Best Goalkeeper of the Group Stage by CAF

The CAF has named Andile “Sticks” Dlamini as the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations’ Best Group Stage Goalkeeper. Also included in the Best XI of the Group Stage was Andile.

Sticks has had a fantastic season thus far, helping South Africa finish the Group Stage with a perfect record after winning three of its three games.

Banyana Banyana defeated 11-time champions Nigeria in a remarkable hard-fought 2-1 victory before defeating Burundi and Botswana, respectively, by scores of 3-1 and 1-0, to go to the quarterfinals.

Coach Desiree Ellis was named as the Best Coach of the Group Stage for her management prowess.

Ghizlane Chebbak, the skipper of Morocco, was awarded the best player of the Group Stage as a result of her three goals in three games.

The Best XI of the Group Stage according to CAF are – Goalkeeper- Andile Dlamini (South Africa); Defenders – Zineb Redouan (Morocco); Lushomo Mweemba (Zambia); Osinachi Ohale (Nigeria) and Samia Aouni (Tunisia); Midfielders – Refiloe Jane (South Africa), Grace Chanda (Zambia) and Ghizlane Chebbak (Morocco); Forwards – Rasheedat Ajibade (Nigeria); Ajara Nchout (Cameroon) and Refilwe Tholakele (Botswana).

On Thursday, Andile Dlamini and her South African squad will play Tunisia for a spot in the semi-final. On the same day, Nigeria and Cameroon play against one another. Zambia and Senegal will compete for a spot in the last four in Wednesday’s last-eight matches, while hosts Morocco will play Botswana.
