Zwane’s cooking, but the stove’s off: Kaizer Chiefs fans

Zwane’s cooking, but the stove’s off: Kaizer Chiefs fans

– Cape Town The five biggest talking topics from the weekend’s Premier League action were highlighted by shocking results that imply the title battle is wide open even at this early stage of the season. Or is it the case?

In the ranks of improbable heavyweights such as AmaZulu and Royal AM, the feel-good factor continues to grow.

Mngqithi was not joking; Sundowns are not unbeatable

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi stated in the buildup to last week’s Tshwane derby against SuperSport United, “Sundowns are not unbeatable.” Mngqithi was responding to rumors that Sundowns will repeat as champions without breaking a sweat.

A week ago, after the first Tshwane derby, SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt was disappointed when his team lost 2-0 to MTN8 despite having done enough to win the game despite being under pressure for the whole of the encounter. Six days later, when he had another opportunity, he defeated the home team Sundowns 2-1.

The Chiefs have angered their followers by stating, “Zwane is cooking, but the stove is off.”

After Chiefs were held to a 0-0 draw by AmaZulu despite being given a penalty, the Khosi Nation vented their anger on social media. The most retweeted of the insults directed towards coach Arthur Zwane was one by @theomol_, which subsequently went viral. The winning phrase was “Zwane is cooking, but the stove is turned off.”

Now that the Chiefs are in the bottom half of the league rankings, the scenario may grow explosive. At least Zwane will not be held responsible; those who appointed him should be held liable.

The city is expanding ahead of schedule and is currently operating on all cylinders.

Saturday at Mbombela Stadium, Cape Town City handed TS Galaxy its first loss of the season after six matches. Khanyisa Mayo’s goal in the 15th minute marked the first time this season that TS Galaxy’s defense had been breached. City’s 1-0 victory could have easily included two additional goals.

Former Richards Bay striker Mayo made a goal-line-crossing attempt during a goalmouth scramble, but the referee allowed play to continue. This improved performance coincides with City’s Champions League preliminary round match against Caf.

4. The Pirates lose their way due to a floodlight failure, and the referee awards a penalty to Maritzburg.

Crestfallen After his club’s 1-0 loss to Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro stated that the floodlight failure had harmed his players. “I believe we started the game fairly well, up until the load-shedding. “Thereafter, we were not at our best,” stated Riveiro.

The lights went out at the 19-minute mark and were restored 10 minutes later. It appears that the Pirates’ electricity was not restored for the remainder of the game. To add to their woes, the referee handed Maritzburg a gift penalty, which they gladly accepted to record their second victory of the season.

5. The coachless Marumo Gallants are still seeking their first victory of the season.

Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Swallows FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium left Marumo Gallants as the lone team without a victory in the new season.

According to reports, their French coach Romain Folz resigned the day before the game. According to a media report, the club’s hierarchy selected the team and directed Folz to play with that lineup. Folz reportedly stated that it was not in his contract for him to be chosen for the team and then stood aside.

After Sibusiso Kumalo scored a goal in the 38th minute, it appeared that Marumo Gallants would finally eke out a victory, but Swallows equalized just beyond the hour mark.
