WWII expert assesses eight WWII fighting scenes in film and TV

Eight combat sequences from motion pictures and television were evaluated for authenticity by World War II historian John Curatola.

He talks on the veracity of the World War II fighting sequences in “Saving Private Ryan” (1998), “Dunkirk” (2017), and “Band of Brothers” S1E3 (2001), starring Damian Lewis. He also discusses the weapons employed in the films “Patton” (1970), “Fury” (2014), and “Enemy at the Gates” (2001). Daniel Craig’s “The Forgotten Battle” (2020) and “Defiance” (2008) tactical displays are examined by Curatola.

The National WWII Museum’s resident historian and a former Marine Corps officer is John Curatola. He is also an author and a former history professor at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas’ US Army School of Advanced Military Studies.
