Wrexham and Sheffield United have a 3-3 draw. Next Rematch Set for February

Sunday’s match between Wrexham and Sheffield United finished in a 3-3 draw after a late goal by Sheffield’s John Egan at the Racecourse Ground.

A corner kick goal scored by Egan in the 95th minute prevented Wrexham from advancing to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Despite the use of the word “replay,” the game will not be repeated in its entirety. In England, specifically for cup tournaments, a replay refers to a second match played at the home stadium of the side that played on the road in the first match that resulted in a tie. There is no third game because a tie will be broken after 90 minutes of play in the second contest.

Wrexham is the most recent club of non-league status to risk a big upset. League Two is the fourth tier of English football, and everything below it is typically termed “non-league.”

Wrexham is owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, whose 2020 acquisition of the 158-year-old club has been dogged by controversy.
