World leaders tweet Liz Trussell as UK PM

As a result of several people mistaking Liz Trussell for the next prime minister on Twitter, including Sweden’s prime minister, she is now enjoying some notoriety.

The Swedish PM Magdalena Andersson tweeted a message of support to the wrong Liz before the tweet was deleted

After Boris Johnson’s successor was revealed yesterday, Ms. Trussell seems to have claimed the Twitter account @Liztruss before the new PM, whose handle is @trussliz. As a result, congrats were sent to the incorrect person.

Even Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson sent the incorrect Liz a tweet of support before quickly deleting it, but not before Ms Trussell sarcastically responded.

“Congratulations to Liz Truss, who will become UK Prime Minister. We shall keep working closely and extensively together, Sweden and the UK. Important for our economy, people, and security,” stated Sweden’s prime minister.

“I’m anticipating a visit soon! Ms. Trussell’s response was to get the meatballs ready.

Another person who tweeted to Liz Truss with the phrase “still doesn’t understand it” was Caroline Lucas.

She blasted Liz Truss, writing, “@LizTruss still doesn’t get it – Boris Johnson did *not* get Brexit done, his several errors over Covid cost countless lives, & he exits having soiled his post.”

Meanwhile, she ran for office as a right-wing ideologue and will lead in that capacity, which is disastrous for everyone.

‘Apologies, my earlier tweet regarding #ToryLeadership should have been sent to @TrussLiz – not Liz Trussell who tweets at @LizTruss – though actually she’d probably do a better job of it,’ the British MP said after realising her error.

Ms. Trussell seemed to find humour in the situation as she jokedly prepared to see the Queen and sent playful answers.

She said, “Me and Queen Liz would deffo be besties.”

One Twitter user congratulated @LizTruss, writing: good work.

“Show them all that a WOMAN is the best guy for the job.”

Preach sister, Ms. Trussell retorted.

Additionally, she stated: “Just getting ready to go up to Balmoral!” awaiting the opportunity to meet the Corgis.

Yesterday, members voted to affirm Miss Truss as the Conservative Party’s leader after she defeated Rishi Sunak by a margin of 57:43.

She made a promise to “deliver, deliver, deliver” in her victory speech.

I will provide an audacious strategy to lower taxes and expand our economy, she said. I will address the situation of rising energy prices by addressing both the short-term problems with our energy supply as well as the long-term ones that affect people’s energy bills. And about the National Health Service, I will deliver.

Today, Liz Truss “stands full-square behind” every expenditure commitment she made during the Tory leadership contest, according to Chief Secretary to the Treasury Simon Clarke.

There will be a statement regarding energy policy, which will be the Government’s first priority when it takes office, Mr. Clarke, who is expected to be named Levelling Up Secretary in her Government, said on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

The financial statement that follows will include further aspects of Liz’s economic plan and will be released over the course of the next several weeks.

The pledges made about taxes during the campaign remain unaffected. However, it is apparent that providing clarity regarding bill amounts is of the utmost importance.

Mr. Clarke was questioned about the validity of her many expenditure commitments, such as increasing defence spending and shifting £13 billion intended for the NHS to social care.

Liz fully supports every promise made throughout the campaign, he said.

Simon Clarke said that he “would be amazed” if any supporters of Liz Truss’s competitor Rishi Sunak in the Tory leadership race were not represented in her new Cabinet.

“I would be surprised if it didn’t include individuals who endorsed Rishi,” he said. “It will involve people from across across the party.”

Everyone wants to see the Conservative Party come together and attract talent from all around the party, that is a fact.

The circumstances “demands that we come together and that we rule in the national interest,” he said, adding that he was “confident Liz would be gracious in triumph.”
