N Cape DWS water use workshop

On Thursday, the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) in the Northern Cape will conduct a meeting with water consumers to discuss water usage authorization, with a particular emphasis on those who have experienced historical disadvantage (HDIs).

The follow-up workshop, which will take place at Die Kasteel in Hartswater, will primarily concentrate on water use authorization and the application procedures to successfully get a water use licence.

The goal of the forthcoming session, which will primarily concentrate on emerging farmers, small-scale mining, and the NGO sectors, is to encourage holders of water usage permits to adhere to the terms of their permits.

According to the government, sector partners will make accessible pertinent specialists from respective agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Land Reform.

According to the government, “the business sector will exhibit their programmes that assist and empower HDIs, including Standard Bank, Agrico, Kynoch, and Bayer, among others.”

The National Water Act 36 of 1998 and the rules governing water use licences serve as the legal basis for water usage authorization.

The Batlhaping Ba-Ga-Mothibi Tribal Authority, led by Her Majesty, Kgosi Ponatshego Mothibi, has received authorization from the department to utilise water.

14 communities under the control of the Ba-Ga-Mothibi Traditional Council are now beneficiaries.
