A 26-year-old lady perished in a horrible freak event; her hair apparently became entangled in an airport conveyor belt.
Jermani Thompson, according to BET, was a luggage handler at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in the United States (US) on August 30, 2022, when the event happened. Thompson was a GAT Airline Ground Support employee.
According to airport authorities, Thompson was unloading baggage from a Frontier Airlines jet on the tarmac that evening when her hair became entangled in a belt loader.
She was brought to the hospital, where she was declared dead. Wednesday’s flight was canceled as a result of the horrific event. At this time, the cause of the accident is unknown, but the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office will allegedly conduct an autopsy within the next several days as part of their inquiry.
The demise of Johnson triggered an outpouring of grief, particularly from aviation organizations.
Director of Aviation at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Kevin Dolliole issued the following statement to WDSU: “We are profoundly grieved by the untimely loss of GAT Airline Ground Support team member Jermani Thompson. The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport sends condolences to her family and friends, as well as to our colleagues at GAT and Frontier Airlines.”
Dolliole stated, “Jermani was a member of our Airport family, and we will continue to support one another through this difficult time in any way we can.”
A 21-year-old lady from Belarus perished in a bizarre accident earlier this year. The pregnant lady suffered a fatal head injury when her hair became entangled in a machine at the factory where she was being interviewed for a job. While being escorted about the plant, her hair became entangled in a machine. The hair then coiled around her neck, trapping her and covering her in blood.
