A 22-year-old woman from Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal allegedly consumed rat poison after losing her job in an attempt to end her life.

A fast food restaurant employee on Gopalall Hurbans Road in the Tongaat CBD contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance for the semi-conscious woman.

When RUSA arrived on the scene, they discovered the woman convulsing on the floor of the outside eating area with rat poison nearby.

She was stabilised before being transported to the nearest medical facility for further treatment.

Suicidal Note Discovered

A suicidal note was discovered next to the woman, and it was allegedly written by her.

In the note, the woman stated that she intended to end her life because she was constantly subjected to spiritual attacks at work.

The woman went on to say that she had performed all rituals to please her ancestors, but the spiritual attacks continued, leading to her job loss.

RUSA confirmed that the woman has not yet been identified.
