A world overrun by infected half-humans is often the last place you would want to be. But The Last of Us makes everything appear so appealing. The new thriller on HBO is as dismal as it is visually breathtaking, filled with weather-beaten structures and eerie cityscapes. The series does a remarkable job of conveying the amazement of the video game with the same name.
To do this, the The Last of Us team had to be inventive. Consider this your guide to some of the most recognizable locales in the HBO thriller, as well as upcoming destinations.
Where Did They Film The Last of Us?
Canada is the short answer to this lengthy question. The majority of this adaptation of a video game about a cross-country journey in the United States was shot in the north. In fact, it has been described as the largest production ever shot in Canada.
The majority of the filming took place in Calgary, Edmonton, Canmore, Fort Macleod, and Waterton. And we already know the precise locations of several of the most important sequences in this series. Jackson, Wyoming, where Joel’s brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna) resides with the Fireflies, was filmed in Canmore, a picturesque mountain hamlet. Many of the show’s small-town scenes were based on Fort Macleod, a mainstay of this universe. Many of the hiking sequences involving Joel and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) were filmed in Waterton Lakes National Park instead of Colorado.
