Welsh police purchase tuk-tuk fleet to combat crime and protect public

A fleet of tuk-tuks has been introduced by a police squad to assist monitor parks, sidewalks, and other public areas.

The four teeny cars will be utilized by cops in Newport and Abergavenny “day and night,” according to Gwent Police in Wales.

The Safer Streets program, a Home Office grant fund that aids law enforcement in combating neighborhood crime, anti-social behavior, and violence against women and girls, is responsible for funding the cars.

Although the vehicles’ top speeds are unknown, tuk-tuks often don’t exceed 25 mph.

They were on display at our Behind the Badge day, offering locals the chance to view them up close and learn more about how they will be used, according to chief inspector Damian Sowrey.

“The responses were largely favorable.”

“Parents told investigators they would feel better knowing there was assistance for young people out at night, and from ladies who could remember of an occasion when the tuk-tuk would have been a welcome sight,” according to the police.

The choice has generated debate online, with people doubting the effectiveness of tuk-tuks in reducing crime.

One internet reviewer said, “If this isn’t a joke, it’s an utter humiliation.”

Others questioned the fleet’s price tag.
