A lady who attended a wedding in Florida is suing the event’s caterer, accusing her of providing “poisonous” doses of marijuana-laced food to attendees.
Virginia Ann Taylor-Svoboda alleged in a complaint filed on Monday that she had “serious, irreversible disabilities” when Joycelyn Bryant of Joycelyn’s Southern Kitchen Inc. allegedly let meals to be infused with hazardous doses of cannabis.
Taylor-complaint Svoboda’s claims she was “poisoned by marijuana” since she was unaware the wedding meal included marijuana. Her complaint alleges that Bryant was negligent and demands more than $30,000 in damages.
Taylor-claim Svoboda’s alleges, “(Bryant) knew or should have known that permitting the food provided by Joycelyn’s Southern Kitchen to be laced with marijuana was reasonably likely to cause injuries and damages to wedding guests.”
On February 19, a wedding celebration descended into turmoil after deputies from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office found guests complaining of feeling “high.” One attendee informed investigators that after drinking only food and wine, he felt as though he “had narcotics inside of him.”
A lady who ate the meal at the wedding is suing Bryant for more than $30,000 in damages, alleging that he was negligent.
When authorities arrived, first responders were already treating a number of ill guests, and a small number of attendees were sent to hospitals.
A female guest allegedly informed staff members that the dish included marijuana. According to the complaint, another attendee stated that he was feeling “sick and high” and wanted to bring charges against the individuals responsible for possibly lacing his food.
Food samples served at the occasion were forwarded to a laboratory for analysis. According to laboratory results, both lasagna and bread contained THC, the active element in marijuana.
In April, Bryant was charged with breaking the Florida Anti-Tampering Act, transportation of marijuana, and culpable negligence, citing the Seminole County Sheriff’s report.
Additionally, the bride faces other accusations, including food tampering and drug delivery.
