Voetsek? 5 Times Meghan and Harry have angered South Africans

Meghan and Harry may have royal admirers all around the world, but it’s safe to assume that many South Africans are particularly fond of them.

Since abandoning the Royal Family in 2020, the couple has made every effort to finance their own lifestyle, but at what cost?

With deals with Netflix, Spotify, bombshell books, and interviews, the couple’s enormous media push – a far cry from the private existence they sought away from the Monarchy – has irritated a great number of individuals.

In the first episode of her Spotify podcast Archetypes, Meghan Markle recounted a 2019 royal trip to South Africa and how the room where her infant son Archie was meant to snooze nearly “caught fire.”

Meghan also claims that royal advisers compelled her and Harry to continue their commitments following the “fire.” Despite her family being “shaken” and “in tears,” she continued.

However, royal reporter Rob Jobson refuted the claims on the Australian television program Sunrise, stating, “I was on that trip.”

“There were no newspaper articles or other mentions of fire engines being dispatched to the residence. The straightforward fact is that they were not.

People like Meghan Markle make it appear as though travelling to South Africa was the bravest thing she has ever done, despite the fact that South Africa is an inhospitable area where her son nearly perished. She lied often and was pampered in a Cape Town house. She must be fokofing. #VoetsekMeghan picture: Tmm7QoSIcX on Twitter

habitation, mud cloth

Meghan added insult to injury by referring to their South African abode, a nine-bedroom mansion belonging to the British High Commissioner, as a “housing unit.”

Then there was the fact that she pointed out on purpose that little Archie’s nanny was a Zimbabwean who carried him in a “mud cloth” (baby sling).

Haibo! Mzansi, is this the “housing unit” of which Meghan Markle speaks in Cape Town? Can we send out a probe? She is tarnishing our reputation. #VoetsekMeghan #MeghanMarkIsEntitled pic.twitter.com/vvrvevkSz7

Our “sister”

During her visit to South Africa, Meghan addressed a group of women in the slum of Nyanga, telling them, “I am with you as a mother, a wife, a woman, a woman of color, and your sister.”

The remark outraged numerous South Africans, who asserted that Meghan had enjoyed “white privilege” for decades.

Meghan Markle has no regard for black individuals. It horrified me that she referred to herself as their “sister” in South Africa. She has only ever dated white guys and has spent her entire life as a white lady. Clearly, this was a photo opportunity.

Comparing the royal wedding to Nelson Mandela’s release from prison

In an August interview with The Cut, Meghan remarked on how a member of The Lion King’s production cast had approached her and stated that South Africans had “compared” her royal wedding to a historically momentous period in the country.

In her interview, she stated, “When he looked at me, he was like a beam of light. When you married into this family, we celebrated in the streets much as we did when Mandela was released from prison, he stated.

South Africans, including Nelson Mandela’s grandson Mandla, were upset and annoyed by the remarks.

The most absurd assertion made by Meghan and Harry is that their wedding is comparable to Nelson Mandela’s escape from prison.

The foundation of Madiba’s celebration was the triumph over 350 years of colonialism and decades of a harsh apartheid state.

Not comparable.

Mandla said to MailOnline, “Overcoming sixty years of apartheid is not the same as marrying a white prince.”

He said, “My issue with Meghan is that it always appears to be about the money…

To me, that was the antithesis of Nelson Mandela.”

Making millions from Nelson Mandela

On the heels of Meghan and Harry’s docuseries Live To Lead, which was inspired by Nelson Mandela, comes a new documentary series. An more family member of the freedom fighter had something to say.

Ndileka Mandela, grandson Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter, told The Australian that she was “upset” by the couple’s efforts to “make millions” from his memory.

She stated, “I’ve made peace with people using my grandfather’s name, but it’s still deeply upsetting and annoying whenever it occurs.”

She continued, “Harry must be genuine and stick to his own narrative. What bearing does his grandfather’s life have on his own? I don’t believe he or Meghan have ever met grandpa, unless it was at Buckingham Palace when Harry was tiny. However, they are utilizing his statements in the video to attract viewers and profit millions without assisting the Mandela family.”

She continued of the Netflix series, “I am aware that the Nelson Mandela Foundation has supported the initiative, but people have stolen her grandfather’s quotes and used his legacy for years because they know his name sells.”

“Harry and Meghan are identical to them.”

They use the Black struggle, the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and even the legacy of Nelson Mandela to position themselves as white saviors while earning hundreds of millions of dollars.

People like this have been deceiving us for far too long. Never more! https://t.co/tVFbIZc9qP
