Visiting girlfriend in hospital, man murders two nurses

It was discovered that a Texas man, who is charged with capital murder for killing two nurses over the weekend, was present at the Dallas hospital where his girlfriend was giving birth.

On Saturday morning, Nestor Oswaldo Hernandez, 30, opened fire close to the delivery rooms at Methodist Dallas Medical Center while on parole for aggravated robbery and while sporting an active GPS ankle monitor.

However, a jail spokesman informed the Dallas Morning News that Hernandez had been given permission to visit the hospital “to be with his significant other during birth.”

Around 11 a.m., Dallas police, Methodist Health System police, and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the shooting inside the hospital, according to the Morning News.

It took some time before the victims’ identities and hospital jobs were made public. It is unknown why Hernandez was shot, and it is also unclear whether Hernandez is the child’s father.

Soon before noon on Saturday, complaints regarding a gunshot inside the hospital sent Texas police to the hospital on North Beckley Avenue.

According to a statement from the hospital, Ryan Owens, “A Methodist Health System Police Officer arrived on the scene, approached the suspect, and discharged his weapon at the suspect, wounding him.”

Hernandez was sent to a different nearby hospital for treatment, according to the Dallas Morning News. Now he is accused with murder in the first degree.

Hernandez was out on parole when he was shot, according to the Morning News, for a robbery that happened in December 2011.

At a convenience store on Royal Lane in Northwest Dallas, Hernandez and another individual are accused of making “vulgar” statements about the victim’s acquaintance.

According to a police report acquired by the Morning News, when the victim approached them to confront them, the individual with Hernandez apologized and asked the victim inside their vehicle to enjoy a cigarette.

After then, the assailant pointed a silver handgun in the victim’s direction and demanded money. In response to the victim’s resistance, Hernandez pistol-whipped him while he searched his pockets, according to court records.

A short while later, Hernandez was stopped for a traffic violation, and a policeman discovered blood inside the vehicle. Authorities said that Hernandez also had drugs and a.38-caliber revolver in the vehicle. He was given a two-year jail term after entering a guilty plea to the robbery allegation.

Hernandez was detained in connection with a second robbery, which occurred in January 2015.

The victim was being threatened with death as she entered her Dallas apartment when a man and a woman dragged her down. She was kept in a bathroom with her head taped over as they searched her flat.

Before fleeing, the suspects took her vehicle and around $3,000 in cash intended for a school benefit, according to the Morning News.

Shortly after, Hernandez and another lady were both taken into custody. He was given an eight-year jail term after entering a guilty plea to aggravated robbery. Hernandez was granted release after not completing his term.

The Methodist Health System Family is devastated by the loss of two of our cherished team members, according to a statement the hospital system issued regarding the deaths. Our whole company is in mourning over this unfathomable catastrophe.

A visitor was murdered in a hospital shooting in Little Rock, Arkansas, in September, and four people were killed in a hospital shooting in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in June.
