PDP Chairman Bara Daniel Attacked

Bara Daniel, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman for Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has reportedly suffered severe injuries in an attack by alleged thugs associated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The incident occurred during the offloading of election materials for the upcoming off-cycle governorship election in the state.

Origin of the Clash: Dispute Over Election Materials

The trouble began at Twon Brass jetty in the Brass local government area when officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were unloading election materials.

A dispute arose between APC and PDP supporters regarding the designated storage location for the materials, escalating into a violent confrontation.

APC’s Denial: Former Council Chairman Victor Isaiah Speaks Out

Former council chairman and APC chieftain, Victor Isaiah, who was accused of leading the alleged thugs, denied any involvement in the assault.

Isaiah claimed to have intervened in response to the disorderly conduct of Bara Daniel, accusing him of intimidating APC supporters during the securing of election materials.

Isaiah’s Account: Calming the Situation

Isaiah, while interacting with journalists, asserted that he was present to monitor the offloading process and attributed the escalation to Daniel’s derogatory statements.

He claimed to have successfully calmed the situation despite the provocative behavior of the PDP chairman.

Military Intervention: Restoration of Normalcy

The tense situation was reportedly diffused by military personnel who intervened to restore order in the area. The intervention played a crucial role in preventing further escalation of violence during the pre-election activities.
