Florida authorities are urgently searching for a missing two-year-old boy who may have wandered away from his home while his mother was asleep.

The child, Joshua Rowland, also known as JJ, was reported missing on February 23, around 12 p.m. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has issued a statewide Missing Child Alert for JJ.

The toddler was barefoot when he left his home in Brooksville, between 10 and 11 a.m. on Thursday and was last seen by neighbors playing with his dogs in the front yard of his home at around 10:40 a.m.

The search began immediately, and officials used horses, drones, helicopters, K-9s, and ATVs. Dogs were also brought in to try and trace JJ’s path.

Law enforcement professionals are continuing the search, which has entered the second day, with 75 to 100 officers conducting a “very tight line search” in the area surrounding JJ’s home and the woodland surrounding the property.

The toddler is described as being 2 feet tall, weighing around 35 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes.
