Unwise retaliation: slighted lover burns down the wrong house

A woman was detained after she attempted to exact revenge on her boyfriend but ended up setting fire to the home of a good family.

Christie Louise Jones was apprehended by a horrified homeowner who woke up early in the morning after hearing from a neighbour that someone was attempting to set fire to his home.

She instantly ran up to Jones, the would-be arsonist, and confronted him.

She then jumped in her car and sped away.

The New York Post reported that Jones was trying to exact revenge on her boyfriend when she set fire to what she believed to be his home.

After a neighbour alerted him that someone was trying to set the property on fire outside, the genuine homeowner got a rude awakening.

The homeowner, perplexed by what he heard, hurried to get his hosepipe to put out burning wood that was encircling a propane tank on his front porch.

But when he attempted to use the hose, it reportedly didn’t work because Jones allegedly blocked it with Flex Seal, according to WBTV.

The homeowner questioned Jones, who said something before accelerating away in her vehicle.

Witnesses speculated that Jones may have been trying to exact revenge on the man by setting his house on fire while also verifying that Jones’ ex-boyfriend had a property nearby.

There is no proof that Jones and the homeowner are acquainted, according to police officials.

She has since been charged with larceny of an animal, assault with a deadly weapon, and first-degree arson.

An estimated $20k worth of damage was done to the house (R347k).
