In a shocking incident in Ondo State, unknown gunmen have targeted members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Igan, in Akure, the state capital.

The victims were on their way to a burial program when the attackers struck on the notorious Ifon road in the Ose Local Council Area of the state, on a fateful Friday evening.

Terrifying Abduction on Ifon Road

Naija News gathered that the victims, predominantly choir members, were traveling for a burial program scheduled in Ose Local Government Area.

At least twenty-five individuals were on the bus when the armed men ambushed them, leaving their vehicle abandoned by the roadside.

Police Launch Rescue Operation

In response to the distressing incident, the spokesperson of the Ondo Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, has confirmed that the police anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams have been swiftly deployed in the area.

Their primary objective is to rescue the abducted victims and bring the culprits to justice.

“The incident happened yesterday (Friday) afternoon,” stated Odunlami-Omisanya.

“The police were informed that a Church Bus with the Inscription CAC was abandoned around the Elegbeka area, and there are suspicions that the passengers in the vehicle were kidnapped.

But we are already on the trail of the kidnappers with the view to rescue the abducted victims. Our men from the Anti-kidnapping squad are combing the bush already.”

This alarming development has sent shockwaves through the community as efforts intensify to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped CAC churchgoers.
