Admission into the Doctoral (Ph.D.), Master of Science (M.Sc. ), and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in Gender, Conflict and Development Studies at the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is open to adequately qualified students.

Principal Aims of the UNIPORT CGCDS Postgraduate Programmes

The primary objective of the Gender, Conflict, and Development Studies institute is to give the necessary knowledge for developing constructive gender relations in order to facilitate effective collaboration in development.

UNIPORT CGCDS Postgraduate Programmes Admission Requirements
Ph.D. IN GENDER, CONFLICT, AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES: Eligible candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme must hold a Master’s Degree in Gender and Development Studies from a recognized university and have an average grade of 60% or its equivalent. In addition to interview performance, candidates with a Master’s degree in other fields of study must possess a postgraduate diploma in Gender, conflict, and development studies with a minimum grade of “c.”

MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.SC) IN GENDER, CONFLICT AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES: For admission into the Master’s of Science (M.Sc) Programme in Gender and Development Studies, a candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (at least a second Class Honours) in Gender, Conflict and Development Studies or a Degree in any field from a recognised University with a CGPA of 2.5 on a 5-point scale or a minimum grade Mathematics, English Language, and three additional Arts or Science topics are required for the O’ level (as determined by University of Port Harcourt)

POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD) IN GENDER, CONFLICT AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES: To qualify for admission into the Post Graduate Diploma Programme, a candidate must hold at least a Third Class Degree or its equivalent in any field or discipline with a CGPA of 1.50 on a 5-point scale from the University of Port Harcourt or any recognised University. A minimum of Upper Credit shall be considered for individuals with an HND background. As in (b) above, O’ level requirements include Mathematics, English Language, and three other Arts or Science subjects.
UNIPORT CGCDS Postgraduate Programmes Length

Minimum duration for M.Sc. or PGD is twelve (12) calendar months, maximum duration is twenty-four (24) calendar months, and maximum duration for Ph.D. is thirty-six (36) calendar months.
