To aid communities impacted by the ongoing flooding in Sylhet division, the UK has provided additional emergency funding in the amount of £442,548 (more than five crore taka). With this, the UK has contributed £636,548 in recent weeks to the flood relief effort (over seven crore taka).

Javed Patel, the temporary British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, said

“We have seen heartbreaking destruction caused by flooding in Bangladesh this year. Through cash assistance, shelter management, water and sanitation, and educational materials, the newly released emergency funding will help the most vulnerable people.

Start Fund Bangladesh, Caritas Bangladesh, Christian Aid, the Voluntary Association for Rural Development, and World Vision Bangladesh will be responsible for administering the UK funding, which was allocated through Start Fund Bangladesh.
