UK Beaches Set to Ban Dogs This Summer

…Researched and contributed by Solomon Thomas.

As summer approaches, many people are looking forward to visiting beaches across the UK.

However, visitors with dogs may be disappointed as a number of beaches are set to ban dogs this summer.

Councils are imposing restrictions due to increasing visitor numbers and rising temperatures, meaning a number of beaches have limited “dog-friendly” areas during this time.

Some of the beaches will not allow dogs from May 1 to September 30, while others are banned from July through to the end of August.

Restrictions and Partial Bans

Many beaches ban dogs across the entire sand area, while others have partial bans.

Unfortunately, there is no definitive list, as dozens of beaches around the UK, including Devon and Sussex, will be affected by the public spaces protection orders.

Visitors could be issued an on-the-spot fine if they break the restrictions.

It is advisable to check the specifics and which beaches are banned on the local council website before planning a visit.
